Today is crushing last week for productivity. Not that that’s saying much, since I don’t have much to show for last week. I decided that this week I’m going to establish a schedule and GET THINGS DONE. It’s been three and half a months since I got laid off. On the one hand, I need to find more ways to network/job hunt and find work, and on the other I don’t want to be kicking myself once I get a job, for squandering all this time off!
Day 1: so far, so good. I’ve gotten something crossed off my list in all three categories: exercise, house and job. I ran this morning. I get an extra point for that, because it was cold and windy and blowing snow. The forecast for the rest of the week looks worse (single digit highs), which is really the only reason I went. Well, no. The only reason I went was because I was meeting my friend Heidi, and I was sure she would bail!
When I first got laid off I made a list of all these random house projects. Most were just little things I never seem to get around to. Today for the first time I actually crossed one off that list. I cleaned all my light fixtures. Nothing earth shattering, but also no longer have to look at silhouettes of dead bugs when I turn a light on.
And then I sent emails to about a dozen people I “met” last week at a couple of networking events I went to. Once again, I’m blown away by the generosity of strangers. So I’ll go drink coffee with more people in hopes that it’ll lead to work.
And on that note, I’m taking the rest of the afternoon off!
