Since I was laid off a lot of people have commented on how this is a tough time of year to be looking for work. I’m not sure there’s really a good time of year to be unemployed, but I think their point is that with the holidays and all, potential employers are distracted or just on vacation. And certainly I think that hiring managers are not operating under the sense of urgency I’d like them to have. But I would argue this is a tough time of year to be unemployed in Vermont, because the weather is really more conducive to lying on the couch with a blanket and a cat, just reading. Or watching television, whichever you prefer.
I’m trying to ignore the siren call of my couch. Especially since I just took a week off from the job search. I did set up yet another (ok, it will only be my third) informational networking interview, and I’ve got the heading done on a cover letter. But that’s all I have to show for my day so far.
